There’s something about rice krispy treats that wins over everyone. No matter what flavor combination I come up with, they are one of the fastest disappearing acts to come out of my kitchen. So when I added cake mix into the equation it wasn’t all that surprising that they disappeared faster than normal.

I’ve actually added cake mix to these treats before but it was red velvet and came with the appropriate cream cheese frosting on top. Somehow it took me 5 more years to add the more iconic vanilla sprinkle cake mix but here we are!

To make up for lost time I actually used 3 different kinds of sprinkles because why the heck not.I got a fever and the only prescription is more sprinkles!

What is the best flavor of rice krispy treat that you’ve ever had? Are your a classic lover or do you like to try new things? I am always on the look out for new flavor ideas! I bought a giant bag of puffed rice cereal so suspect more creations forthcoming.

Need more sprinkles?

You gotta try my cake batter puppy chow, cake batter cinnamon rolls, or funfetti gooey butter cake!

Oh oh oh, P.S. my 4th publication came out last week! I’m only 3rd author on this one but that’s because I just did a couple experiments for a collaboration. Hopefully I’ll get another 1st author soon if my experiments ever provide a stopping point. Yay science and it’s never ending questions!

hi! this sounds delicious! I usually add sweetened condensed milk to my treats – would that be too much going on in this recipe? if not, would 1/3 cup or 1/2 cup be okay to add?

thanks!

I have never added sweetened condensed milk so unfortunately I do not know. I generally don’t like adding liquids because I find the cereal gets soggy. But if you normally do it then go for it!

YUMMMM.

Holy crap yummmm. My Grandmother-in-law makes a caramel version of rice crispy treats, with a chocolate frosting that is amazing, but too sweet for me.

Cake batter however, I can totally get behind.
