You are here: Home / PUBG Mobile Guide
PUBG Mobile has been released for iOS and Android and it’s a hit (on an even playing field — free vs free — it managed to outrank Fortnite).
This PUBG Mobile Guide is going to include all of the tips, tricks and info you need to get the best experience on your smartphone (and hopefully a “pocket chicken dinner”!)
If you haven’t downloaded PUBG Mobile yet, you can check out my article on how to do so here.
PUBG Mobile Settings
On PUBG Mobile, you have the following settings for your Graphics quality:
Frame Rate
- Low
- Medium
- High
Graphics
- Smooth
- Balanced
- HD
- Ultra HD
What’s interesting is that if you try to select higher frame rates, the app will say “Higher frame rates will be supported on your device soon.”
And if you try to increase the graphics to HD, it will say “This option will be available on your device soon.” and, if you select Ultra HD, it will say “Coming Soon!” when tapped.
Get Higher Settings on PUBG Mobile on Android
There is a workaround to get higher settings than the app will let you, if you have an Android phone.
First off, you need to download a File Manager app. What I recommend is ES File Explorer File Manager (Google Play Store download link).
Also note that to edit the file, you may need a Notepad app, depending on your device.
Take the following steps:
- Open the File Manager.
- Navigate to “Internal Storage”
- Go to
/Android/data/com.tencent.ig/files/UE4Game/ShadowTrackerExtra/ShadowTrackerExtra/Saved/Config/Android
- Now, select UserCustom.ini and rename it to UserCustom.txt
- Scroll to find the following options and change them from “0” to “1” (if you can’t edit the file, install a Notepad app)
+CVars=r.PUBGQualityLevel=1
+CVars=r.UserQualitySetting=1
- Rename UserCustom.txt back to UserCustom.ini
- Open PUBG Mobile
- Go to the Settings page (by clicking the “gear” icon in the top right).
- Select “Graphics”.
- TO INCREASE THE FRAME RATE SETTINGS, under “Frame Rate” click
High
. You should get a message saying “New settings have been applied. Reduce the frame rate if it fluctuates.” - TO INCREASE THE GRAPHICS SETTINGS, under “Graphics” click
HD
and you should get a message saying “Picture quality has been changed and will take effect after restarting. Lower the quality if there is lag.” - Restart your game.
Voilà! Now you should be able to play the game with pretty much the max graphics settings you can get for the moment.
If your game has no shadows, make sure to check that this option is set to “1”
+CVars=r.ShadowQuality=1
PUBG Mobile Max Settings for iOS
There are no ways to increase the graphics settings in iOS that I know of at the moment. But you can get up to Medium Frame Rate and Balanced Graphics, and the game looks pretty darn good on iOS devices.
PUBG Mobile Smooth vs Balanced
Here is a side by side of the difference between the lowest two graphics settings in PUBG Mobile (click or tap to enlarge):
Sorry for the not-so-great comparison shot, but here you can clearly see that with the “Balanced” setting, everything (including the UI) is sharper and just looks more pleasant. There is still a ton of aliasing but I’m not sure that any setting gets rid of that.
In Conclusion
Do you have any tips for graphics settings or gameplay in PUBG Mobile? Please let me know in the comments and I’ll include them in this page!

Unironically the best way to play pubg. the lootboxes make sense in a f2p mobile game instead of a full priced game, there’s actual progression, it runs better, you don’t get instakilled anymore because of the mobile controls everybody has to use and it doesn’t cost a red cent! As long as you don’t play solos you’re bound to have a good time.

I would have given 5 stars if you guys fix the mic thing. The mic doesnt seem to be working properly, it automatically turns on sometimes, then boom its gonee, i tried everything in the setting too. If this is a bug please fix it. This is a fantastic game. And would be more awesome if the mic features works, that helps to communicate with your team or the opponents. These all bugs have been fixed thanks to pubg creators
